pinoy heroes today

It is sad to note that we are slowly deteriorating as a country. Long ago, we ranked number 2 in Asia and only next to  Japan. It is not too late to reverse the trend. We can do this if each and every one of us will do something positive to improve our country.

I call on all of you, modern Pinoy heroes to please contribute each day. Place you comments here so that our people can see how we can improve.

I encourage you my fellow countrymen here in The Philippines and abroad to place your comments or suggestions here, how we can improve instead of criticizing. United we win, and divided we fall. We do not have to rely on the government to do all for us. We too have to do our share.

It can be as simple as not littering, helping an elderly cross the street, briefing our children to stick to our honesty values, etc. It has to be done everyday.

  2. I felt good today. Why, because I have done something good for our country, and that is nothing special but little things. You see, all these little things add up and breeds the culture that we desire.

  3. I picked up a barbecue stick that a seemingly nice lady just threw outside her parked car while waiting for her apparent boyfriend buying something from a store.

While doing so, I simply told her that the barbecue stick she threw can cause to clog our drainage system. She was somewhat embarrassed what she just did and I am sure she wont do it again.

Little things like this can make a big difference if all of us pinoys will do our share.

So let us just do it.

  4. It is no wonder that Pinoys are indeed good law abiding citizens. Examples are drivers when they are inside SBMA; they follow traffic rules to the letter. I salute the policemen there as they cannot be bribed otherwise a traffic violator gets another ticket for bribery. How come these drivers who are actually mostly also came from Manila are well behave at SBMA? WHY???

Hey guys please extend that road courtesy while also driving in Manila and make a difference. We are world class citizens. Pinoys abroad are the most law abiding citizens. MABUHAY TAYO!

  7. Personally, I don’t have high hopes for change especially with the way things are going on right now. I am not even a registered voter, but I still managed to at least, watch over the people’s votes in the recent elections. But when I read this blog, it somehow gave me a little hope that we can make a change even in the smallest deeds we do. Being in the academe for 5 years, teaching kids in their formative years is very crucial; they look up to their teachers as role models and so we need to instill good values not just in the four walls of the classroom but even outside. The first person who came into my mind is Efren Peñaflorida, who happens to be a former teacher of our sister school in Cavite. The 2009 CNN Hero’s Kariton Classroom touched lives of people here and abroad. I have heard of his humble beginnings, started out with a few volunteers who wholeheartedly spared time and effort to teach these children. He is driven with passion to pursue this up to the present, and I hope that we will all be inspired to do small deeds that can make a big change. ♥

  8. Hi pixieinbliss,
congrats! you are indeed one of our modern day heroes. I know the majority of our countrymen also have the desire to do good for our country but they simply do not do it. Maybe they have no means and I hope that eventually this blog can make a difference. Being a teacher, you can actually introduce to your students on a daily basis the good values. I suggest "a good value for the day" just like the "word" for the day.

  9. I think what we need to instill in our countrymen is not the desire to help others, but the desire to help themselves. Progress must start with oneself before influencing others.

Most Filipinos have low morale and life expectations. How can we ever achieve something big, if we don't even dare to dream?

  10. What the country and the Pilipino people need is a
national discipline like the Japanese. There are lots of Japanese in Australia, but they do not want to become Australian citizens because of their love for their country. Why do Pinoys respect and obey the laws of other countries when
abroad, but neglect Philippines laws when at home?
Simply because our Political Leaders are the No.1
    violators.

  11. Fully agree with you Dom. Unfortunately, we have very limited means to influence our leaders to change. But we, the common people can change our negative attitude and adopt the positive attitude towards the improvement of our country and if all of us will do our little share, we will be rated as world class citizens in the future. At least now we are rated as one of the best worker available because we deliver. In my opinion, if we love our country, we should show this by doing everything for the good of our country. Buy Philippine made products can be a good option to start with. Do you know that Philippine made electronics are not only cheap but also very good quality.

  12. The time is NOW!! If we don’t take action and do something good for our country TODAY, we will go nowhere. It is not too late. We must take action NOW. The action I mean is nothing big but simple little things of sharing what is in the back of our minds how we can improve. Tell it to our people thru this medium and others. 1 or 2 sentences what you have done today like you have started to instill to your children the good values such as “HONESTY” is the best policy. Tell them the story of the “The Boy who cried Wolf”. Tell us tomorrow how you felt good because TODAY, you did something good for our country. Look at the future how our children will enjoy how pleasant it is to live in the Philippines with its world class citizens.

  13. If only each and every one of us who reads this will do their share, and start doing little things for the good of our country, the transformation of the Philippines as the country to live in with world class citizens will be exponential!

  14. Another proof that we Pinoys are indeed honest world class citizens was just demonstrated by Noel Salinas a security guard. On October 16, 2010, he returned to rightful owner the P20,000 cash he found in an ATM machine despite the fact that he really needed money as his wife is sick. Mabuhay ka Noel Salinas!

  15. Having a "pakikisama" or being loyal to our fellow countrymen, we can ensure peace in our country. This could be manifested in our basic sense of justice and fairness and concern for other's well being. Let us regard one another with respect and empathy so that we could develop a quality interpersonal relationships which are our principal source of security and happiness. Mabuhay!

  16. (FREE FX RIDE TO MRT)

    Funny thing happened this morning.
I was on the way to work and I already assumed that their would be very few public transports operating because of the typhoon Juan.

After 5 minutes of waiting with other commuters, a private fx with a handwritten signboard "Hi-way MRT" stopped at our waiting shed. I thought.. "Pwede na to kahit colorum, di naman siguro ako mahoholdap."
But the driver refused our payment.
He said it was a libreng sakay project courtesy of Mr. Ardy Palecpec who was running for kagawad.

I've been a resident of brgy. Lagro for 24 years yet I've never heard of this man.
Most filipinos would take this kind of thing for granted because of the nearing elections.
I just thought I'd share my happy experience with you guys.

  17. According to WIKIPEDIA as of October 17, 2010, we ranked #139th as the most corrupt country in the world. My fellow countrymen, will you just sit there and do nothing but watch the continuous deterioration of our country? If that’s how you look at it then, you better leave and go somewhere else and be a citizen of another country. But there is no escape as the people there will always look at you as a Pinoy and will judge you as such.

We, millions of Pinoys out there, believe that we have a very good chance to change the bad image and the solution is with the people. Not from our government but just from ourselves. That is why we have to take action starting TODAY. Do something good for our country and definitely you will feel great immediately because you have done something. The easiest and the simplest way is to just keep our mouths closed about negative things in our country and only open them to shout to the world something positive.

I have travelled all around the world but to me, there is no place like home. By all means we have to protect our image and nurture it. There is only one Philippines. This is our very own even if some of us are now living abroad. Instill good values to our children, friends, neighbors, etc. NOW! When done, please share us your ideas in this medium and others so that our people can see and accordingly take action.

  18. Pacquiao versus Margarito fight malapit na. Kanino ka? Can Manny (Pacman) Pacquiao be considered one of our modern day heroes, Yes or No? Tell us what you think. Of course he is far from perfect due to his vices but at least he has done a lot for the good of our country than most of us. In this regard, for me he qualifies as one. Whether you agree or not tell us why.

  19. Just reported to 117 yesterday about possible danger to our motorist because of concrete barrier that fell down and lying at the middle of the road. This morning it is still there so I reported again for follow up to 117. I can only hope that no further accident will happen to another motorist. Little things like this can help.

  20. I have traveled to almost all places in the world and to me there is no place like home. I live in the Philippines, the country I love most. This is the only country I have so I encourage you my fellow countrymen let us do our share to protect and improve its image. The simplest and easiest way to help is to start keeping our mouth shut instead of spreading issues that can give us bad image. In this regard, I call on all the media people in your calling to report all the truth, please also factor in and weight whether it will give us bad image or not.
